I Painted over a self portrait I recently painted on tin. Still think it bears a resemblance!

Who needs a self portait of me? I don't even want it. But a sign for the chicken coop.........well that's something every self-respecting chicken owner should have!

Stanley for Easter

We had Dad stay with us for Easter. He he is ready to tuck into a hearty breakfast. Actually I think he's just getting ready to dunk his sleeve right into the tomato sauce!

Next project is a 5' x 6' sign for Ray of RW Vintage Racing here in Callington. A lot of the grud work has already been done by he who works for beer!

Quick update, boring details

Quick rushed update. Palmer sculpture experience over. Now what to do with the sculpture. Hmmmmm! A call for victums!
Going back to Laramie Julyish. Lots to do before then. Next projects, big sell out of all my art work here in Callington the 1st of April, Sign for a vintage car collector here in Callington and another mural for community lifestyles in Murray Bridge, complete a dummy picture book to send to omnibus and start on a few more dummy books, belly dancing for another three weeks and lots of horse riding etc etc! And this is apart from all the things to do to get the house ready for sale and catching up with friends.On go the rollerskates.
Dad is doing well as comical as ever.All in all life is good.

Its a happy diango

Da Da!!! Its finished. With a little help from the kids at Callington Primary we have made it a happy Diango(or Diumpling if you prefer). It is 2 metres high, about 1.4metres long and HOPEFULLY less than 33 inches wide(whatever that is in metres). Stay tuned to see how much fun it will be getting it through the door of the blacksmiths shop in Palmer!!!!

Drawing, writing and building big things

I've launched back into the crusade to have something published so I'm spending a lot of time in my drawing and writing studio; a nice little outdoor patio deal that works well with the help of aeroguard!

Who says we aren't high tec? That's a spirit level there inside the sculpture frame. Of course, when the creative process really gets going we tend to forget about these practical considerations. Besides, we usually lose such devises under all the fallout!

Diumpling

Big day put in by Dianne and myself on the start of the Palmer Sculpture. We are renaming it a Diumpling. See here Dianne is getting pretty excited about it all. We have a long way to go. What a hoot!

The dawn of the Diango

See here self portrait (or woman in the black cap)more as how I like to see myself than what I really look like (I think). Wide eyed, big smile and splattered in paint. Approx 1m x 65cm. House paint on beaten up tin.
Spending lots of time in the studio of late. Drawing, painting and sculpting up a storm. Very 'studio bound'. The next project will be a 7'x5' diango ( gigantic dumpling) for the Adelaide Fringe Festival. I wont be going this one alone thank goodness. Dianne Davie will be working with me. Hence the Di in Diango. It will be installed across the road from the general store in Palmer, SA as part of their Sculpture Park theme encompassing the entire town. It will be there by the 5th of March or maybe sooner if we get cracking on it. Right now its a wooden base compliments of the technical whiz luking behind the scenes. Same one who installs the Murals and gets paid in beer. (Hey, Australia's first currency was rum!) Stay tuned!

While less fortunate Australians are suffering in this latest heat wave, more affulent ones are cooling off in their own private swimming pools.

I guess I'm now combining the abstract field with the figure. I love the forms created by the figure in motion and then I like to distort them future to make them interesting and yes, a little funny! Sporting images are always fun and can be really exaggerated. I like the way these forms cut the negative space (or abstract field) So there will be more of this. A sort of 'life be in it' with Ronnie Roo!
